Good song, fine movie

Nicely animated, and good humour in some parts (I especially like the "quick" humour, with a quick scene change after it, like the thing at the end with the mailman). However, I would've liked it if the movie stayed with the song more. The beginning particularly had completely nothing to do with the lyrics.

Remember, understated humour is the funniest!

A notch above

I like how you for once gave your characters a little more personality in this one, like when the blue guy goes "hey, hey hey", and then the red guy goes all freaky on him. More personality is always good!

Ugh... the music...

Really, REALLY grating. I hated the music and the yellow shades, but it was well animated and put together, so I'll give you a "4".

The (Russian) text at the end said "let me dream about you, Nasnya", BTW.

Why is this called Solaris? That's the name of Tarkovsky's 1972 sci-fi masterpiece, as well as the recent American remake of that movie...

Do you know...

...emotioneric? This reminded me a LOT of the "adventure" section! Some parts of this were a bit funny when seeing them the first time (the "bed"), but it doesn't really last... personally, I didn't think gel's face was posted on the girl's body well enough to make it funny; it LOOKED too obviously like it was cut & pasted there, so it wasn't funny for me... the narrating was nice though.

P.S. It's true; you have a beautiful wife. If she's as beautiful inside as she is outside, then you're one lucky man. ;D

Dustball responds:

Actually the bad cut & paste job on gel was intentional, and why it was supposed to be funny. If it was looked real, it wouldn't be funny at all. There are many other subtle Photoshop enhancements in other pictures, and if you don't notice I did them, then I guess I did my job well!

Artanis: not true

I'm pretty sure I remember reading once about a someone who had half of his/her brain removed, and was still able to live fairly normally. The body adapts; functions that were once relagated to just one side of the brain are passed over to the remaining side.

As for the flash, can't give you perfect on graphics because in some places they looked pretty bad while in others they were very good. It's not really that well put together; it could have been better, I think, and told the story more cohesively. I still understood it, but it could have been done better, that's all I'm saying.

Bleahhh... *throws up*

This is WAY too cute for me, and I simply DESPISE that song.

It's well done though, so I'm giving you a 7, although I'm not going to watch that again!

I like the other egg flashes that I saw, but this was too much.

Aaaahhhh... the voices!

The girl's voice is incredibly HIDEOUS! Please never torture anybody with that again...

I didn't like the "teeth chattering" sound...

...it's really too cliche. But otherwise it was great!

Snakejohnson responds:

I agree with you 100%. That sound makes me think of Scooby Doo when I hear it. If I could have found something better on time I would have changed it. I'll be on the lookout for a better sound to stick in that spot.

Excellent.

I seriously can't figure out why you keep undermining your talents with an "eh, it's nothing much" mentality. I think you're on par with the best animators on newgrounds, so you should at least PRETEND to be somewhat serious about it so people will take you seriously and vote higher. The internet chatroom-style intro is the kind of thing that i think you should avoid in the future... when I watch a movie, I want to "believe" what I'm watching...

but anyway, great job.

a slow installment

it's very good, but I think it would have probably worked better if I had seen this right after #1-4, because those were mostly action & this one is a break in the action. When you finish this series, you should release a DVD with all of them from beginning to end, with no breaks (you might have to modify some of them a bit to do that, but I think it would be worth it)! Then it could be like a feature film... :)

Feel free to PM me if you want to see the scores to any of my music.
