I can't really fault this!

This looked a lot better than most 3-D animations that I see. Most importantly, the textures looked very realistic and it just had a finished look overall. The whole thing is a little short, but it's good for what it is. I hope this isn't your last submission! :)

...

As for humour, it wasn't bad. The drawing was great, but the animation was a little too stiff for my liking. The idea on the whole wasn't that original (ie. the whole flashing vertical lines while jumping up with a sword looks good but it's been done to death already), what WAS original were the character designs.

Perhaps in your next flash you could create a "world" to go with your characters; that might prove very interesting.

Good job, on the whole.

Incredible, unbelievable, and so on

These are the most amazing colours in a cartoon that I've ever seen. I'm not kidding! Wildly imaginative, excellently scored, and incredibly beautiful.

However, I said it before & I'll say it again, though; the baby Marcus Pueblo's character design really irks me; the eyes that go to the side of the head, the tiny pupils & his ass which some reason he always sticks out at the viewer; it all combines to create a negative impression. Thankfully, you made him look better (mostly) in this flash. Your other character designs are absolutely incredible and I really wish that you had designed Marcus Pueblo similarly.

This is the kind of movie that is wonderfull to watch even with the lack of a good story because of its amazing atmosphere sounds and visuals (if you want to see another movie that successfully accomplishes this, I strongly reccommend you track down a copy of "Ashik Kerib" - at a local library perhaps, or failing that the RusCiCo DVD because it has much better image quality than the KINO DVD - it's a psychedelic Azerbaijani fairy tale and the great director Parajanov's last movie).

Great job, and I hope to see more from you! Your movies are becoming better and better.

Unusual and good

The main character reminds me of myself. :p

Good job; it's a little slow, but somehow very satisfying. I have to admit that I find the style a little too unnatural (the eyes especially), although I wouldn't say that it's bad at all; the graphics are very consistent and I'm impressed by how many things are drawn here.

A few problems...

mainly with the voices: It was REALLY easy for me to tell that it was just one person doing both voices; I actually thought at first that it was the salesman immitating the woman's voice. Also, at times the music drowned out what the salesman was saying (i.e. what did he say just before Timmy got cut in half?)

Pretty funny otherwise, in a sick sort of way. I still like your Black and White movies better, though, especially Aura: Story Mode (sadly RIP). I love the way that only music and editing is used to tell a story and give an atmosphere.

P.S. I'm very eagerly awaiting the next Aura! I hope that it will retain the great atmosphere and invention of Aura: Story Mode (my favourite scene in that was the brain-reading machine: the way it was choreographed to the music was pure genius)

Underdog?

This is a collection of movies that, had they been submitted individually, would have all been blammed.

And yet it has a rating of 2.13/5, and has the title of "Underdog".

Something very fishy is going on here...

UglyBastard responds:

Nothing fishy.

First, the movies in this collection (the older ones), that were in the DailyToons series, weren't submitted individually, they were just part of one, most DailyToon movies mainly had more than one in it.

Second, it got underdog because the overall review average was high and the main score was low. (It could also get underdog by a high score and a low review average, too) :P

It was at about in the 2.4-2.5 range before it got the underdog award, and I must say it dropped dramatically since then. :(

So, it wasn't originally 2.13. :P

A solid 6

You have some great animation there, and it is indeed loud and scary. BUT PLEASE, I BEG YOU, STOP THE SCREEN FROM FLASHING ALL THE TIME!!! One can get a seizure from watching that! If it hadn't been doing that, my score would have been higher.

Maybe it would be better to have to screen FADE from red to black instead of FLASH from red to black!

ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

Heheh.

Pretty good

I liked your storyboarding very much, and the style was also good. Actually, the style was good for everything except the people (I don't mean the "angels"), which were really not drawn very well... this really ruined the feel of the flash for me, just because everything else was so good!

I guess the best suggestion I can make to you is learn to draw people better. :P It would have really helped.

Very good

And I'm one of the people who didn't much like the last one!

This one was great, though; the humour was spot-on, the photoshop work was great (thankfully! Bad photoshop work on purpose like in the last episode is just not funny to me), and the narrating rocked.

Great last joke, BTW. :D For those who don't understand it, read some of the comments to the first movie, you'll catch on very quickly. :P

7.5/10

Dustball responds:

Glad I was able to rein you in this time!

Great potential, but a few flaws.

I love the colours you used in this flash, and I also liked some of the techniques you used such as the horizontal strips accross the screen and the "spiralling down into the city" (just before the cats fight); that made me dizzy, and I loved it! The music isn't anything special by itself (nice melody but repeats an awful lot), but somehow it really went well with the flash.

Here's what I didn't like though:

-When the cat was training, why did his body look more human than cat? I felt cheated! Cats don't move or "train" like humans!
-When the cats fought, you used the cheap "dustball" technique. The fight was boring! You should have watched some actual videos of cats fighting and drew from that; if you'd done that, it quite possibly would have been the highlight of the flash.
-both cats looked the same, just different colours. Something different about the other cat would have been nice.

Feel free to PM me if you want to see the scores to any of my music.
