Skullivan

"Sorry."

submission: Skullivan
date: July 13, 2005

I can't listen to that song... makes my ears hurt.

The animation was fine, although a few more frames of animation in places would've made it better. The flash makes almost no sense at all, but I guess it doesn't really have to since it's based on a song that doesn't make any sense. :p I really like the little skull guy.

I watched a few minutes of it but I couldn't finish because the song just got too grating, so my rating may not be totally accurate... sorry about that.

Sonia's Escape

"Wow, what a satire!"

submission: Sonia's Escape
date: July 12, 2005

While parts of this were just plain weird, other parts are quite clearly making fun of society (Russian society, that is). I loved the cat (that is EXACTLY what fat cats are like!) and the metro frog lady. Yes, I've met the metro frog ladies in Moscow... we don't have them here in Canada, though. I never really understood what the insect was supposed to represent, but it was still cool. Surprisingly dark in parts, unusually so for Western audiences (remember, Americans don't mind violence but show them the tiniest hint of something like rape and they feel absolutely disgusted... you're making these movies for a Russian audience, but you should keep that in mind just the same)

Anyway, I think that this and "Los Dias Sin Dias" (my #3 most favourite flash on Newgrounds at the moment) are your best works to date. Your style is awesome, but in my opinion it only works if you work really hard on something like you did on those two animations; otherwise it can end up feeling rushed. It takes a certain amount of effort to take something to 80%, and the same effort again to bring something to 100% quality - but in cases like this, it's more than worth it!

Just Draw It

"Well..."

submission: Just Draw It
date: July 11, 2005

The highway that you drew - the walls of all of the houses looked slanted. If you have ONE point to which all of the lines go, then all other lines should be straight, so the side walls to the houses should have been simply horizontal where they touch the ground.

Other than that - the faces are fine but the bodies are out of proportion, so you should work on that next.

Also, you should add a preloader and make the song stop at the end. And your filesize is HUGE - find a way to make it smaller next time please (I have the feeling that every single frame was a separate image... which is bad).

I can't really say much else. The flash had no point really but neither did it have anything in it which really annoyed me or was just painfull to watch, so I can't give it too low of a score. It was nice, largely because the drawings were ok and the music was good.

You certainly don't deserve a 0, because it's clear that you put effort into it, but I can't give you anything higher than a 5 because it was pointless and very rough. Try out in advance next time what you're going to draw to which part of the music.

Butterscotch the Horse

"MUST... STOP... LAUGHING... *GAH*"

date: July 10, 2005

That was some of the best voice acting I've ever heard. Seriously... I'm having a hard time not falling out of my chair laughing as I write this...

What the hell were you thinking???? I'll have to add you to "favourite flash artists" now... brilliant, just brilliant.

The graphics could've been a bit better (that is, you could've repeated yourself less & the lines in some parts were too thick), but that's about it.

Portrait of a Modern Man

"Good God!"

date: July 10, 2005

You have a random way of thinking! That was a whole heap of "brilliant", but in my opinion it was stretched out a little too much - next time it would be better if you made something shorter but weren't forced to use "shortcuts" in some parts in the animation.
Really small file size too, congratulations!

Anyway, I really loved that. I hope you have more great stuff like this in store - the best part was how it was almost like a symphony - everything was mentioned again and again, and it came full circle in the end. The animation was done to fit the music rather than the other way around!

I'd really like to see more of that man-spider guy who we see briefly on the tv, or at least something like him. :)

Robots in Ancient Greece

"Uhm."

date: July 10, 2005

The song may be funny in a silly way, but the singing is pretty bad... maybe most people don't notice it, but you could you actually try to sing most of the notes in tune next time? While I can see this having potential, it really just didn't appeal to me - all it was was a bunch of easy-to-create slideshows, and left me with a rather bad taste in my mouth (a previous reviewer mentioned horseshit... perhaps). I can see why you'd do something like that for a site intro, since it doesn't take up a lot of space, but for all of the reasons stated above I just didn't like it. I like the design of the little robot with huge eyes though. If you actually made the location of ancient greece have some relevance (that is, make fun of famous ancient greeks or something), I think this could be better.

Right Here, Right Now

"Well done!"

date: July 9, 2005

I actually really like this movie, much more than that Blam Police thing on the front page that currently has a 4.22 score. Excellent animation and everything; I like how it looks 3D when the creatures swim from side to side.

You should make more!

Super Mario Physics

"Excellent, mostly."

date: July 7, 2005

This is educational, but really fun! The only thing is, couldn't you make your own voice sound a little more "excited"? It was such a contrast to the sound of everything else in the flash, and it really slowed it down a little too much. Everything's explained really well, although the "release of energy" and the sonic boom thing could've been explained a little more.
Good job overall - I'm giving you an 8 on the review but I voted 5 (just this once ;).

Wall Lunch

"The doctors made an oopsie and left some guts out."

submission: Wall Lunch
date: June 30, 2005

Creepy. Yet funny at the same time.
Excellent graphics, style, voice, music, and poem. I really hope you make more; your style is original on Newgrounds. One thing I noticed though was that the voice at one point didn't accentuate that it was the end of a phrase - "cause it was ice we wasn't surprized we fell of the wall and met our demise" sounds like one sentence when it's actually two, and it confused me the first time I heard it. There should be a feeling that it's the end of a sentence after "surprized"...

Projective Detective ep2

"Hilarious!"

date: June 22, 2005

Oh my, this is so funny! This baby's going into my favourites! :P The guy who wrote the script is a genius (reminds me of Family Guy a little) and the voice acting is top-notch. The animations aren't super, but they're not bad either & they get the job done pretty well. They're actually not bad at all, but the frame rate is a bit choppy.

Great, great stuff! I hope you guys make more!

Author's Response:

We are making more, hmm it ran fine on my comp maybe you need to turn your
graphics down? This script was more voice funny then visual funny. Thanks
for the review. I do watch family guy and yes i am a genius. lol kidding.
