Score: 9
Simple Tranquility

"Excellent"

submission: Simple Tranquility
date: August 6, 2007

This is a very pleasant piece that depends greatly on the quality of the musicians playing it. The biggest problem which this submission has is a lack of good sound quality. Looking past it, however, I find something really nice.

It's too bad that the recording isn't a little better...

the sound of war #1

"Excellent debut!"

date: August 6, 2007

Really nice progression with a minimum of frills there. Of course, it's not exactly front-line-of-battle music, but it's not any worse for that. I think that you're really good at just sticking to the basics and crafting a simple, but very effective piece.

I won't make any suggestions for percussion or other "more exciting" instruments that some other people will undoubtedly make - I really don't think that this piece needs anything more than what it has.

I look forward to your future submissions!

war front turning point

"Not as good as "the sound of war #1", but nice"

date: August 6, 2007

I really like the subtlety of your compositions. The main problem in this piece, though, is that it loses some of its harmonic momentum in the middle. Otherwise, it's great.

It's definitely not frontline battle music; more like the soundtrack for somewhere 20 miles behind the front line. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Score: 10
Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 Part 2

"Great playing"

date: August 6, 2007

Even though it was edited. It's still a pretty good version of Liszt, especially considering that you're providing it to us for free! A major deficit were the limited acoustics, but I'm sure that those were a consequence of using an electronic instrument. I also noticed a small flaw (almost like a skipped beat) around 5:07.

But because this is so far above the call of duty for Newgrounds, I'm still voting a "10". Thank you.

Piano Etudes: Das Unterseeboot

"That was really good"

date: August 6, 2007

I don't really know what to say, except I liked it. A very effective piece. Good use of chromaticism.

Is it played on the computer, though? I'm not sure how possible it would be to play it in real life... some of those repeated notes are quite fast.

K.Omerou - March of the divine

"I agree with MaestroRage"

date: August 6, 2007

These are definitely not the good guys. Perhaps they are wearing the colours of the good guys, but they are clearly malevolent.

There ARE some arabic elements in this, but there is also a medieval stream running through it. It works fairly well as a loop. The only thing is, it gets a little tiring listening to it. Maybe if you had a short section where it gets quieter for a bit, just for some variety...

Generally, it's quiet effective, though.

VC#1 - Allegro con tuono

"Yes, this is quite classical."

date: August 2, 2007

It reminds me vaguely of Mozart, for some reason; both the harmonies and the abundance of notes in the melody line are reminiscent of the era.

It's nice to see a real "classical era" piece in the classical section.

Author's Response:

Hey!

Sorry I haven't been on this page in a while. Yeah it's similar to mozart definitely--mostly his Symphony no.25.

Yeah there's not enough classical pieces on here lol.

Thanks for the review!

Mass Destruction

"This is great"

submission: Mass Destruction
date: August 2, 2007

And really, I typically despise trance music. However, this one was just full of great things. I loved the variety, and I loved the instruments and harmonies. I also quite liked that sudden volume change near the end.

Into my "favorites" this goes. ;)

Into the Distance-New Version

"You're right."

date: July 23, 2007

It is very relaxing. It's also well-structured.

I like how it just keep on going with the same chords playing in the background. It makes it have a timeless feel, yet it moves forward at a good pace.

I can't really think of any suggestions for this one. I'm not sure why it had such a low score before I voted for it (1.69, now it's 3.11).

Rachion's Sonata

"Good song"

submission: Rachion's Sonata
date: July 23, 2007

I think it has the low score because of the unfeeling way in which the computer plays it. Some competent live players would make it sound much better.

It's a fine little piece, and I look forward to seeing how you use it.
