Monthly voting

Posted by Esn - November 5th, 2008

It's been a long time since I did the monthly voting thing on Newgrounds (which only the top 2000 active monthly users can do). Not since before the summer, at least. These are my choices for this month, from #1-#10 (I didn't vote for any games, but I did watch most of the eligible movies). There were some really nice submissions, especially the top 5 picks.

1. Fallen Angel Ep. 1 (Pt2)
2. Fallen Angel Ep. 1 (Pt1)
3. Sketched - Pregnancy Test
4. Custodial Catastrophe
5. Ghost Crush.
6. Angry Dog - Lizard Dome
7. The Life-Shroom Sprint
8. Gunk! in Abductard
9. Rockoons 2
10. The Sun Portal

Other submissions that were close to being on the list:
Orlando's Joint #10
SRM Call of Duty 4
Shamoozal: GFGames #4
One Big Morphing Orgasm

The order isn't perfect or objective, but it's hard to keep things straight after watching so many films in a row. Also, #10 was maybe not objectively better than the ones that almost made it in, but I really liked how imaginative it was.

Yeah I almost forgot to vote I have be eligible since the very beginning its sad real talent doest get appreciated here it goes to mario sprites.

It's been a while since I paid much attention to Newgrounds films. I had some time today so I decided I might as well get back into it for a little.

What constitutes "real talent" isn't agreed on by everyone; I just vote for what's important to me in a film. Hence, some very popular submissions of this month (such as "Ferrets" - see my recent review of it) aren't on my list because I don't agree with the general NG public.

Regarding Mario sprites, I think that some of those films actually show a fair bit of talent. I even have one on my list this month.

One thing I've noticed is that the NG audience right now seems to generally be younger and less mature than a few years ago. Presumably others have moved to Vimeo or Youtube. Maybe that's not true and it just seems that way.

Thanks for the nod dude. I only wish it got that much praise on the front page.
